1. Product Description
Benzalkonium chloride chemical name is dimethyl benzyl alkyl ammonium chloride, is a quaternary ammonium compound, white waxy solid or yellow colloidal body, easily soluble in water or ethanol, slightly soluble in ether. Commonly used as a bacteriostatic agent, has a good antibacterial effect on bacteria, yeast and fungi, and is often used in ophthalmic preparations, nasal and otic preparations and small volume injections.
When the R group of benzalkonium chloride is different, the bactericidal effect is also different. R=C12H25Benzalkonium chloride mainly kills fungi, R = C14H29Benzalkonium chloride mainly kills gram-positive bacteria, R = C16H33Benzalkonium chloride of benzene mainly kills gram-negative bacteria. Therefore, by controlling the proportion of alkyl compounds, a more broad-spectrum and efficient bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect of D can be achieved.

bacteriostatic preservativeIn the pharmaceutical, this product has a low concentration of antibacterial effect, high concentration for skin and mucous membrane sterilization. Widely used in ophthalmic, nasal and otic preparations, small volume injections and vaginal suppositories, also commonly used in surgical instruments and skin disinfection. Typical amounts in ophthalmic formulations are 0.01-0.02%.
