Isopropyl myristate (IPM), the chemical name of isopropyl myristate, the relative average molecular weight of 270.451, is made by the esterification of isopropanol and saturated high molecular weight fatty acids, is a colorless clear oily liquid, miscible with ethanol, dichloromethane, insoluble in water. Isopropyl myristate has low greasy feeling, soft effect on skin, low melting point, stable and difficult to hydrolyze, and good permeability. It is a solvent and retention agent for pigments, spices and various additives. Widely used in pharmaceutical preparations, skin care products and cosmetics, commonly used as solvents and lubricants.
