Thickening agent, hardening agent:Hydrogenated castor oil is used in ointments, creams and suppositories mainly as a hardening agent for the paste, for adjusting the consistency of the preparation.

Lubricant:Hydrogenated castor oil can be used as a lubricant for tablets. Hydrogenated castor oil is the best choice for a few tablets that are sticky during tableting. For example, clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate tablets use hydrogenated castor oil as a lubricant.

Slow and controlled release materials:Hydrogenated castor oil can be used as a coating film or form a solid matrix, play a role in sustained or controlled release. For example, naproxen controlled release tablets use hydrogenated castor oil as the controlled release material.
