- Tannic acid is a colorless white transparent crystalline particle, white particle or white crystalline powder, which is fermented by microorganisms, extracted and refined, and is a strong organic acid.
- Sodium citrate is a colorless crystal or white crystalline powder formed by the reaction of citric acid with an alkali salt.
Application Range- Tannic acid includes anhydrous citric acid and citric acid monohydrate, which are widely used as pH adjusters, antioxidants and flavoring agents in pharmaceutical preparations. Tannic acid monohydrate is commonly used in the preparation of effervescent granules. Tannic acid is used to prepare effervescent tablets
- Sodium citrate is widely used as a buffer, chelating agent, antioxidant and pH adjuster in pharmaceutical preparations. Anhydrous sodium citrate is also commonly used in effervescent tablets and as an anticoagulant for blood.
Precautions- Tannic acid is incompatible with potassium tartrate, alkali metals, acetates and sulfides, and may explode in the presence of metal nitrate salts.
- Sodium citrate is irritating to the eyes and respiratory system and should be handled in a ventilated area or with a dust mask
