- Castor oil is a clear, viscous liquid that is almost colorless to slightly yellow, with a slight gaseous taste, and then slightly bitter. It is a fatty oil obtained from the mature seeds of the Euphorbiaceae plant Ricinus communis L. Castor oil contains a large amount of ricinic acid (more than 80%). Among common vegetable oils, only olive oil (containing about 80% oleic acid), safflower oil (more than 70% linoleic acid) and tung oil (about 85% Paulownic acid) has this characteristic. Listed in GRAS. It has been included in the FDA's "Database of Inactive Pharmaceutical Ingredients" (for intramuscular injections; oral capsules and tablets; topical creams, emulsions, ointments and solutions). Used in the UK for non-injectable pharmaceutical preparations. Canada is on the list of acceptable non-pharmaceutical ingredients.
Application Range (Purpose)- It is used as a greasy base in local medicines; it can also be used as a solvent for oral tablets, capsules and intramuscular injections.
Product Advantages- Castor oil, as an adjuvant in oral, injection or topical formulations, is generally considered relatively non-toxic and non-irritating. Castor oil is easy to dissolve in ethanol, which is a characteristic that ordinary fats and oils do not have: it has advantages in dissolving some specific substances. Castor oil has a higher viscosity, lower freezing point than general vegetable oils, and has good fluidity at low temperatures: refined castor oil can still flow at -22, and there is no turbidity after rapid cooling at -50. Castor oil has a low peroxide value, is stable in nature and is not prone to rancidity: avoids affecting the stability of the active drug, is easy to store, and reduces the risk of deterioration.

- Higher safety: Sterility, control of bacterial endotoxin, reduction of the risk of introduction of exogenous biological impurities in the production process of the preparation, and meeting the requirements of injections, ophthalmic and inhaled preparations. Better stability: nitrogen filling protection measures are taken during the filling process to ensure consistent quality during product storage
Precautions- This product has a certain hygroscopicity and should be stored in a sealed container, protected from light, and in a cool, dry place.
- This product is incompatible with strong oxidants
